Nepra forms Inquiry Committee to investigate about power blackout

ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Energy Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) formed a three-member Investigative Committee Thursday to investigate the power outage that is dragging the whole country into darkness.

In accordance with the Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the research committee, the committee will identify causes and faults that lead to cascade, tripping, and system failure; to rectify the responsibility of the major power failure; efforts were sufficient and the power supply was restored within a reasonable time; examine the findings of research reports provided from them for such failures in the past and recommend remedial measures to be taken to prevent recurrence of such events. in the future.

The Investigative Committee may refer any NEPRA expert or industry expert for assistance and support (if required).

NEPRA’s committee ranked third in investigating the outage case, as a committee formed by the NTDC investigated the issue. He announced that he would open an independent investigation into the issue alongside Federal Energy Minister Omar Ayub Khan.

It is worth noting here that a complete blackout has occurred across the country throughout Pakistan, which dragged the whole country into darkness on Saturday night and took the entire Sunday for the system to fully recover.
