The recent wedding in Gilgit-Baltistan is being hailed as the biggest wedding in the valley.And this marriage is not of an ordinary person, but of Baba Jan, the leader of the Awami Workers Party, who was recently released after 9 years of imprisonment. Baba Jan’s wedding also lasted for 4 days and this wedding is being called the biggest wedding in the history of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Baba Jan, 42 Years, chairman of Awami Workers Party Gilgit-Baltistan, was married to Himmat Begum of Gach area of Ghizr. Thousands of people from Gilgit-Baltistan and the four provinces of the country and Azad Kashmir attended Baba Jan’s wedding in his hometown of Nasirabad Hunza, which continued uninterrupted for four consecutive days, despite severe cold and icy winds. OfThe wedding ceremony was also attended by several important personalities including National Assembly member Mohsin Dawar and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Tauqeer Gilani.
It was also unique and the first wedding in which every special and public participation was invited and all the expenses of the wedding were borne jointly by the workers of the Awami Workers Party who imprisoned Baba Jan. During the long struggle for his release.
The wedding was anchored 24 hours a day and all the guests were treated to hearty and delicious food.In honor of the wedding guests, a cultural show was also organized for 4 consecutive days in which for the first time in a wedding, 8 different groups of musicians sang local tunes together in such a way that every area and every age present except the groom himself.
