WhatsApp Brings Picture-In-Picture Feature Video Calls on iOS

iPhone users will be able to multitask on their cellphones while on a video conversation thanks to WhatsApp’s picture-in-picture (PIP) feature, which has begun to roll out to video calls on iOS. WhatsApp for iOS never allowed users to multitask while on a video call without halting the user’s video stream, in contrast to WhatsApp for Android, which has always supported multitasking.

iPhone users can now dismiss WhatsApp and continue their video call while using another app on their phones by using the picture-in-picture (PIP) feature.

Release notes for the most recent stable version posted to the App Store contained the announcement. According to the changelog, “You can multitask during a WhatsApp call without your video being paused thanks to support for iOS Picture-in-Picture (PIP)”.

PIP support has been available on the iPhone since the release of iOS 14 back in 2020, but compared to their Android counterparts, third-party apps have been slower to implement the new functionality on the platform.

Also, the upgrade expands WhatsApp for iOS’s ability to deliver documents with captions, which was previously only possible with photographs and videos. Also, the most recent version of WhatsApp for iOS now allows users to submit longer subjects and descriptions in group discussions.
